FAQs
What e-liquid can you use with the Caliburn G pods?
The 1 ohm coils are best used with e-liquids with a VG:PG ratio in the region of 50:50, such as Halo Vapour Co.
The 0.8 ohm coils can be used with e-liquids with a VG:PG ratio between 50:50 to 70:30.
What is the difference between mesh and regular coils?
Mesh coils maximise the surface area of the coil to the e-liquid. This ensures better heat dissipation, making it ideal for higher wattages, and ensures increased vapour and flavour.
What is a Mouth-to-Lung (MTL) vape?
In Mouth-to-Lung vaping you inhale vapour and hold it in your mouth for a moment before inhaling again for the vapour to reach your lungs. In Direct-Lung vaping you inhale in one continuous breath into your lungs. See MTL v DL for more information.
How long does the coil last?
Coil life depends on many factors, including how long you puff for, the e-liquid you use and the wattage you use your coil at. Low resistance coils, such as the 0.8 ohm coil, which are used at higher wattages, will not last as long as higher resistance coils such as the 1 ohm coil.
You can extend coil life by priming the coil before usage (see product care), by using e-liquid with the right VG:PG ratios, by not going above the recommended wattage and by topping up your tank so that the coil never dries out. With care, these coils should last anything from one to several weeks.
Product Care
Maximise coil life
- Use the correct type of e-liquid for the coil. This is indicated on the product page on E-Cigarette Direct.Allow e-liquid to soak into a new coil for at least five minutes before using it for the first time.*
- Keep the e-liquid in your tank above the level of the coil. This ensures the coil remains saturated.
- When using a bottom-charging device, remove the tank or pod when charging and store it upright.
- Use the correct wattage for the coil you are using. Wattage ranges are usually written on the coil itself or can be found on the packaging.
* Note that low-resistance coils used at higher wattages may need additional priming. Add a drop of e-liquid into each of the coil’s ports and allow extra time for it to soak in.
When to change a coil
Coils will need changing from time to time. Here are signs that your coil needs replacing:
- Inhale feels scratchy or harsh.
- Flavour starts to diminish.
- Vapour production reduces or ceases.
Do note that low-resistance coils used at high wattages will need changing more frequently than high-resistance coils used at low wattages.
